Alyson Schafer is a 3rd generation Adlerian, with a Master’s degree from the Adler school (Toronto). She holds the distinction of being an Adlerian diplomat for the North American Association of Adlerian Psychology (NASAP). She has also been a faculty member for the International Committee of Adlerian Summer Schools and Institutes (ICASSI). Alyson also presented the keynote address for the International Association of Individual Psychology (IAIP) in Ukraine and prestigious Ansbacher Lecture. Alyson has helped open and train educators at two Adlerian nursery schools, plus she has consulted and presented to schools, principles, and school boards in Canada, the US, and internationally at various IB schools.
She’s a family counsellor in private practice in Kingston Ontario, as well as one of Canada’s most recognized parenting experts due to her extensive media work. Alyson is the resident parenting expert on many national TV and radio shows, as well as hosting her own TV show “The Parenting Show” and the podcast “Parenting The Adlerian Way”.
Alyson has three best-selling parenting books with Harper Collins Canada: “Breaking The Good Mom Myth”, “Honey, I Wrecked The Kids” and “Ain’t Misbehavin”. Her books have been translated into many languages. Alyson has spoken around the globe, including Bulgaria, Uruguay, Belgian and Switzerland.
